Visit Nara

For the purposes of cherry blossom viewing, Mt Yoshino is roughly divided into an upper, middle and lower section, which is handy when describing which trees are in full bloom. The Shimo-Senbon, literally the lower thousand trees, is located at the base of the mountain and comes into bloom first. There are easy hiking trails around this area, leading up to the Naka-Senbon, or middle thousand trees.
