Visit Nara

This small pond close to Nara Park is a pleasant place for strolling or taking a break. As you reach the top of the main shopping area along Sanjo Dori, you will see the pond, lined with willow trees, just below Kohfukuji Temple. There are several hotels and restaurants, plus the Nara Visitor Center & Inn, where you can book tours and cultural activities. The sunset view across the pond towards Kohfukuji Temple's pagoda is a favorite with photographers.

The narrow streets leading away from the pond connect to the Edo era town of Naramachi. You can take a short-cut through the grounds of Kohfukuji Temple to reach the Nara National Museum and Kasugataisha Shrine.
