鹿の舟
This is a newly opened multi-purpose venue in the heart of Naramachi. It has a natural “Scandinavian” feel, with plenty of wood and light colors, in a series of restored machiya houses and a kura (traditional store house). Kamado is a store and dining space serving rice dishes cooked in traditional rice cookers. There you can also buy fresh produce and design items. Open and airy, Saezuri is a cafe offering a range of light meals using locally sourced ingredients. Mayu, a gorgeously preserved and refurbished machiya house doubles as a tourist information center and exhibition/performance space. With over 500 books on Nara related topics, it’s a good place to relax, research and catch up.
