Visit Nara

The Basara Festival takes of the streets of downtown Nara to celebrate dance. The word basara, roughly translates as expressive and exuberant, and you will see amateur performers with plenty of energy and spirit. The groups range from kids’ dance troupes to company employee groups, all in bright costumes. Performances take place at shrines and on the streets, on the last weekend in August. Just follow the music.
