街並納涼桜燈火

Held at Kinpusenji’s Zaodo on August 14, this festival features a yukata pageant, live music and a sea of candles. About 4,000 lanterns are lit every year, providing the perfect occasion for locals and visitors to gather and welcome the ancestors during Obon. In the evening pounded rice cakes are thrown to the crowds—grab one for good luck.
