This ryokan and Michelin-starred ryotei (traditional kaiseki restaurant) has rooms overlooking a beautiful courtyard garden. Of course, being in Koriyama, there are a lot of goldfish in the garden ponds. The staff are very friendly and happy to accept foreigners, although they don’t speak much English. You may need someone to help make a reservation and choose the courses in advance. You can just go for lunch or dinner, or stay overnight with two meals included. The location, in a quiet residential street near the remnants of the old castle town’s outer walls, gives you a real sense of living in this historic area.
